[ About Us ]

Planning is underway for a new series of events in St. Petersburg and Gulfport in mid October that will celebrate “coming out of the closet and into the world” for the area’s burgeoning LGBTQ community. The Come Out St Pete series of events is being planned under the name “Come Out St. Pete” and is slated for Oct.11-15, 2017. The next organizational meeting is scheduled for March 22nd at Empath Health located at 3150 First Avenue South at 6 pm. Moving forward, plans call for meetings the second and fourth Wednesday of every month and any interested party, gay or straight, may attend.

The Come Out St Pete events coincide with National Coming Out Day on October 11 and the Tampa Bay International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (TIGLFF) which is scheduled for October 6-14, 2017. Tentative plans call for a march in the Grand Central Business District, a vendor marketplace, a family values picnic in Gulfport and coordination with TIGLFF to screen movies at various locations in the area.

“Come Out St Pete’s mission is to celebrate coming out, to inspire members of the LGBTQ+ community to be honest about their sexual orientation and gender identity, to raise awareness of issues facing the community, and to encourage others to be openly supportive as allies. Come Out St. Pete advocates for community awareness and acceptance of all sexual orientations and gender identities, and encourages a sense of community through a series of events and activities that promote equality for all,”
“Come out, St. Pete, and show us your courage, your pride, and your support!” said Shawn Connelly, Committee Chair,. For more information 727-744-4037 or email info@comeoutstpete.org
