Welcome to Come Out St. Pete!
We’re so happy you’ve expressed interest in helping to plan the 2019 Come Out St. Pete events! Come Out St. Pete is in celebration of National Coming Out Day, observed every year on October 11th.
Come Out St. Pete’s mission is to celebrate coming out, to inspire members of the LGBTQ+ community to be honest about their sexual orientation and gender identity, to raise awareness of issues facing the community, and to encourage others to be openly supportive as allies. Come Out St. Pete advocates for community awareness and acceptance of all sexual orientations and gender identities, and encourages a sense of community through a series of events and activities that promote equality for all
There are several ways to volunteer. Here is a list of current coordinator leadership positions that need to be filled. If you see a particular position you feel you’d be qualified for and interested in, please feel free to let us know! *You do not have to be on the board of directors to volunteer for any of these leadership positions. There are also several events leading up to the day of the main event on October 5th that volunteers will be needed.
Duties include: Recruitment of groups, individuals and organizations to participate in the parade.
Organize the parade line up accordingly.
Oversee the overall parade route on the day of the event and troubleshoot any problems that may occur.
Proud vendor market coordinator – October 5th
Duties include: Recruitment of groups, individuals and organizations to participate in the market as vendors.
Plan the vendor layout according to city requirements and specifications.
Replying to any and all email questions from vendors.
Organize the vendor setup on the day of the event.
Oversee the vendors throughout the day of the event and troubleshoot any problems that may occur.
Duties include: Recruitment of volunteers for any and all events leading up to the festival day, as well as volunteers to assist with the parade, the Proud market set up, Come Out St. Pete merchandise tent events leading up to the festival day and the day of.
Duties include: Making sure t-shirts and merchandise is readily available for any and all markets and events leading up to the festival day, as well as the vendor booth on the day of the event.
Duties include assisting the sponsorship coordinator (Brian Longstreth) in recruiting sponsorship funds from local businesses, organizations and individuals.
